i’m not alive & i’m not dead; i’m a ghost with a heartbeat.

“The Bride”, now known as “Constance Hathaway” of The Haunted Mansion. There is a WDW legend that says her ring was embedded into the ground in the exit path of the Magic Kingdom attraction. This ring was, in fact, just a regular crowd control queue stanchion that was cut from the ground. When WDW rethemed Haunted Mansion in 2011, they added a real Bride’s Ring in the new interactive queue line to honor the legend. {

If you spy closely with your little eye in the new queue for Little Mermaid at the Magic Kingdom you might catch a glimpse of Captain Nemo’s mysterious vessel, the Nautilus, hidden amongst the rockwork, as well as hearing more overtly ‘Whale Of A Tail’ from the classic Disney film in the area music loop.
Prior to being Little Mermaid, and before that, a lame playground, the magnificently evocative submarines took guests on a journey of exploration to liquid space (encountering mermaids, the lost continent of Atlantis, the eerie deep sea beneath the polar ice cap, giant squid, and a silly sea serpent). I still miss the Submarines, truth be told, and shutting down that attraction has never quite sat right with me (don’t get me started on the PIXAR movie story overlay at Disneyland forced onto the Subs in order to ‘save them’, even if it meant they returned to active duty).

After clicking through to flickr and selecting a larger image size, it still took me about a minute and a half to find the Nautilus.
